Comic strip...

So I started a comic strip some time last month...
But with everything going on these days, it's hard to keep it going on a regular basis.

S.F. Tribute book update...

The book debuted at the San Diego Comic convention yesterday.
So, I guess it's ok to post my submission now.

Major website update...

My personal website/portfolio is going through a major re-do/do-over right now.
Once it's up you'll be able to see more of my work both old and new. I plan to have some time lapse videos of me painting murals and maybe a Camtasia vid or two of some tablet sketching/painting.
from what my web designer tells me, I'll be able to make updates pretty simply through a blog feature he's adding (some complicated flash thing).
I know, I know..."Dude, make it yourself." I want to but, I'm just too busy to get into learning all that right now.

New Mural...

Despite having a hundred things to do, I painted a wall with some friends this morning.
In the 12yrs, or so, that this wall has been painted, I've never had the chance to paint there.
So, when I was invited I couldn't say no.

Keron Grant Sketch with added digital paint...

So those of you who may or may not know the works of Keron Grant http://www.kerongrant.net/ Hes got a refreshing style and is way cool.

Anyway, I wanted to paint something the other day, so I grabbed one of his images (hes aware of it) and painted it. Heres the result... character design and drawing by Keron, colors by davpunk!

Rest In Peace SOLVE...

Last week a street artist who went by the name "SOLVE" was murdered in an alley behind his apartment. I didn't know Brendan Scanlan personally but I felt like I should honor his passing somehow. I made this in his honor.



I just put it up at his memorial on Halsted St. and Grand ave.





Rest in Peace Brendan.

"Hood Angels" enamel painted wood panel series

I made some of these last year for the Chicago Comic Convention as a last minute thing to try and attract people to our table.

This year they're a little more refined and I plan to continue making more. Each one will be one of a kind due to placement and color choices for both the characters and the background. So pick one up when, if, you can.

Finally finished the SF character wall today.
Now I just need to reduce all the glare in cs3 and get prints made for the con.



We're calling the whole production "LEGENDS".
Seeing as how these 3 are mos def' legends and Exhaust and I are too!

I was wondering if my Pepper submission ever got to the people at Imaginaryfs.com so I went to the deviant Pepper site and guess what I found?

Yup...there it was, MY PEPPER! (way on page 21...ha)
This doesn't mean it's going in the book, it just means they received it and they are sharing it, and all the other (700+) submissions with the fans.

3 new pieces...

I painted these 3 quickies for an exhibit called "Observation With Intent". The opening was last night in Pilsen. Although I tried, the only thing that got to me was the fact that no one really kept to the 'theme'.

No big deal. There was plenty of good stuff to look at and I even met my doppleganger. I talked to him and made him see that it was better that he get a new name. One down and one to go. Ugh.

The middle one sold that night. Yay.

I was going to post this logo I am finishing up, but on second thought- its not all complete, nor ready for the public eye. So I will post an old unused concept.

I finally got back to my Painter 6 "dry ink" sketches.

These are really fun to do. I can do them in Photoshop but somehow, it's just not the same.
I plan to paint a series of 30-40 of these... I want to paint local graffiti artists I know and who are in the public eye (for quick recognition's sake) and have an opening somewhere to show them.

*prints will probably be a order on sight kind of thing. wish me luck.
